yesterday i was looking at some articles on newsweeks website, specifically in their culture section. i stumbled upon this article titled “Sex & Love: The New World” and had the sub text:
More middle-aged people than ever are single, and they’re finding the rules have changed. STDs and Internet dates. Aging bodies and kids at home. Who knew?
(here is the link newsweek article feel free to read it now or after you read my blog)
It peaked my interest so i read it. It talks about the new dating habits of older single people who should be “wiser” and more “mature” but this article makes me think otherwise. todays middle-age and older crowd are just as messed up as the younger people. i never thought about how everyday middle-age single adults(if you can call them that) that i see on the street are acting just as badly as young teenagers and college kids having sex with no commitment. how sick is that. i know we all are sinners but you would think that “grownups” (again if you can call them that) would behave more maturely for there age. i know culture puts an emphasis on being young and sexy no matter weather your age 5 or 50, and i guess that has causes old people to even imitate the terrible dating habits of americas youth. It seems so odd that older singles ignore abstinence till marriage as much as teens. no wonder young people do it. they don’t have anyone to look to that isn’t except for true lovers of Christ. I feel i can more assuredly than ever say that our world has no respect for God’s gift to married people: sex. it is very disturbing and saddening to me to see how lost are world is. i already knew it was lost before reading this article but now i know even better and it is more firmly branded into me. we live in a sin infested world that is continuously sinking to new lows. thank goodness God is still working in peoples lives and can save people and heal them of these sins, and that one day all will be set right by King Jesus when He comes again. thinking about this has been good for me and my faith. it is easy to forget how messed up our world is when we are constantly surounded by it everyday. it is like your deodorant. the very first day you put it on you really notice the smell, but after many days and months you get used to the smell and don’t think about it and notice it the same way you used to except for some rare occasions. the stench of the sin in this world works the same way. when we first notice sin it is very noticeable but if we don’t keep the fact that the world is sinful and in need of Jesus we loose that sense of the real state of the world and the repulsivness of sin to a Holy God.
The link to the article is bellow. i’m going to stop writing now even though this article has stirred up many other thoughts and prayers. feel free to share your sentiments on this article by leaving a comment or at least sharing the link to where you wrote about it with me. i would like to hear others thoughts on this.
